Just two hours from Cape Town, Lylius Accommodation on a working organic rooibos and buchu farm is the ideal escape for pet owners seeking a peaceful getaway in nature. 

Located on a spacious 1700-hectare organic rooibos and buchu farm, Lylius is easily accessible via a short 5km gravel road from the N7 and suitable for normal cars. And you don't have to leave your dog behind! Our self-catering Farm Cottage and campsites are ideal for pet owners seeking a tranquil escape. The farm welcomes well-behaved pets, offering ample open spaces and natural surroundings for your furry friend to take in.

All guests also have access to the Communal Area with a swimming pool, fire pit, and picnic tables at these different campsites.

Nestled under the canopy and crossed by a small stream that feeds two shallow rock pools, the FOREST PRIVATE CAMPSITE is an exclusive gem spanning about 750 square metres. Its owners have constructed two wooden bridges to access the campsite's three tent-only sites. While parking is available next to the Lapa for a roof tent or small camping trailer, space is limited, and bakkies, camping trailers, and caravans cannot cross the bridges. The site has a maximum capacity of 10 guests, with one shared bathroom. One group is allowed at a time, providing an intimate and secluded camping experience. Enjoy the Lapa with power points, lights, a cooking area, and a private bathroom with a shower, toilet, and basin. Guests may also access the Communal Swimming Pool and Jungle Gym shared with Grassfield Campsites. Take advantage of your private nature retreat and create unforgettable memories with loved ones.

Overlooking the Grassfield area and campsites, the TAAIBOS CAMPSITE sits atop a hill separated by natural bushes. This unique open site, spanning about 1000 square metres, offers a private Lapa of 35 square metres with a bathroom featuring a shower, basin, and toilet. Enjoy a picnic table and fire pit on the terrace, taking in the stunning valley views. The site comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests with four caravans, with one group allowed at a time, ensuring an exclusive experience for you and your group mates. The Lapa features powerpoints and lighting. Guests also enjoy shared access to the Communal Swimming Pool and Jungle Gym located at the Grassfield Campsites. Make cherished memories with your loved ones at the Taaibos campsite.

GRASSFIELD offers four distinct, private sites - Mango, Marula, Karee, and Pear. Each site spans approximately 400 square metres, with ample spacing between them providing a peaceful and secluded atmosphere exclusive to your group. Enjoy your private 25 square metre Lapa with a bathroom featuring a shower, basin, and toilet. For maximum comfort, we recommend up to eight guests with three caravans per site. Each Lapa provides power points and lighting, and guests can access the shared Communal Swimming Pool and Jungle Gym located on the premises. Fruit trees have been planted across the grassfield, soon providing ample natural canopy shade and delicious fruits for your enjoyment.

On-site Pet-Friendly attractions

Explore 1700 hectares of organic farmland with your pet and enjoy activities such as hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running, bird watching, stargazing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing at the farm dam. Experience tranquillity during the day and stargaze during the peaceful nights. Hike trails like Lookout, Buchu, Rock Art, and Nieuwoudt Pass while exploring other unmarked paths. Discover nature and species of birds at the farm dam. With a swimming pool and play area located at the Grassfield Campsites on the farm, enjoy the school holidays with your family. MTB enthusiasts are welcomed to bring their own bike and beat off-track circular routes of the wild fynbos kingdom.

Off-site Pet-Friendly attractions

There are a variety of off-site pet-friendly attractions for you and your furry friend to enjoy in the Clanwilliam area. Velskoendraai, a lovely farmstall, allows dogs at their outdoor seating area and offers delicious food and local products. Additionally, you can explore Clanwilliam Dam or Bulshoekdam. For a beach adventure, head to LamberstBay or Elandsbaai where dogs are welcome and you can even eat at the dog-friendly outdoor seating areas of places like Isabella or the Elandsbaai hotel. Unfortunately, the Cape Nature Reserves in the Cederberg are not pet-friendly and do not allow dogs.
